Spooktacular Science at Flandrau for Halloween

Spooktacular Science at Flandrau

Flandrau: The UA Science Center presents five days of Halloween-themed activities beginning Oct. 23.

Flandrau: The University of Arizona Science Center opens its doors for five "spooktacular" nights of safe festivities featuring educational chills and thrills galore in celebration of Halloween.

The "Spooktacular Science Event" offers families plenty of fun-filled spooky science activities and games for kids and mad scientists of all ages in a safe and educational environment.

Each night of the event offers something a little different, including a haunted asteroid cave, hands-on science activities, slime, telescope viewing, liquid nitrogen, brain science, foggy bubbles, live sky shows in the planetarium, glow science, arts and crafts and more. There will also be plenty of treats and trinkets and a special Halloween gift for kids wearing costumes.

"We think parents will particularly appreciate the idea of bringing their children to a safe location that will not only provide some of the fun and thrills kids expect on Halloween but also combine it with a unique science education experience." said Alexis R. Faust, executive director of the Flandrau: The UA Science Center.

Spooktacular Science is presented by Flandrau: The UA Science Center in partnership with the BIO5 Institute, Hands-on Optics, the National Optical Astronomy Observatory, the Society for Neuroscience Tucson Chapter, The Physics Factory, Students for the Exploration and Development of Space and the UA Chemistry Club.

"We want to thank our partners for helping bring this event to the community," added Faust.

Flandrau: The UA Science Center is open 4 days a week - Thursday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with evening hours on Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The science center is located on the northeast corner of University Boulevard and Cherry Avenue on the UA campus.
