The U.S. baseball team routed China, 9-0, on Monday, which was the team’s second straight victory. The University of Arizona’s Jason Donald went 0-for-2 with a walk and a run scored in the contest. Donald reached base three times against China, as he was also hit by a pitch twice in the game.

The win improved the U.S. record to 3-2 in round-robin play.

Playing seven innings seems to be a rarity for the U.S. softball team as it dominated another opponent. This time it was a 9-0, five-inning victory over China.

The UA’s Caitlin Lowe was 1-for-2 with a run scored, while Lovieanne Jung was 0-for-1 with a walk and a run scored. Cat Osterman picked up the win, but former UA pitcher Jennie Finch struck out three in two innings of work.

The U.S. softball team is 7-0 so far at the Olympics and all but one of those games has been halted after five innings.

The U.S. and China will meet again in the semifinals on Aug. 20.

The Lithuanian men’s basketball team closed play in Pool A with a 106-75 loss to Australia. The team had already clinched the top spot in the pool and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Former Wildcat Robertas Javtokas tallied four points, two rebounds and a steal in the game. Lithuania will face China in the quarterfinals on Aug. 20.
